More climbing adventures

So can I just say my life is getting more exciting as we go. Sam has discovered the couch and loves to climb on it. Lucky for me he now understands the meaning of "Feet first" and usually doesn't end up on his head anymore. However, he still finds ways to get in the weirdest of situations. We just hope he doesn't kill himself before the age of 1. Only two more months to go...

Sam's first haircut!

So you can't really tell how bad it was from the first picture. We should have combed it forward for all to see but his hair was getting in his eyes. He kept rubbing his eyes all the time because of it and so we decided to give him his very first haircut. I tried to get it a little shorter than I normally would just for the fact that I didn't want to have to do it again any time soon. He didn't really enjoy the experience but overall it wasn't too bad. After a little wailing and a LITTLE holding still we ended up with a not too bad first haircut. We definitely need emphasis on the little for holding still. He's never been very good at that. I thought his hair might stand up again like it use to after it got cut but no luck there.

He must be related to me...

So I was talking to my mom the other day and she said I was quite the handful too since the moment I could get around and stand I was also climbing. I guess it's the mother's revenge thing or something because I can't take my eyes off of him anymore. I was making biscuits yesturday morning and he figured out how to climb up the drawers and reach the stuff on the counter. The worst part is that we need to find a new place for the big kitchen knifes now. He can move the chairs but hasn't learned to use them yet so I'm praying for that to NOT happen soon. There won't be anything safe if he figures out that but it might be more stable than the things he's finding now. Anyway, enjoy the pictures!

Just to make you all jealous...

Ok, so I know there are many beautiful places all over the world but I consider myself lucky to live here since I couldn't ask for a better place to live. Right at the end of the street is the start to this path I like to walk on as frequently as I can. This picture is of just that, the beautiful shady start to my walk. It's so beautiful the camera we have just doesn't capture even half of the beauty, but hopefully you can imagine it.
This picture shows Windecken where I live. As I get out of the trees it opens up into beautiful fields. A patchwork of browns, greens, and yellows mixed with patches of trees and little towns. Sometimes I wish I could just keep walking and never stop. It's quiet, peaceful and if Sam gets tired home is nearby. What more could you ask for?
Ok, so if you really want a look at these pictures you are going to have to click on them to see a bigger version or you just won't really see what's in them.

Husband tag!

What is his name? Arnold Evans Luschin von Ebengreuth
How did you meet? Kindof a long story but the shortish version... I was on the Ballroom Dance Company at BYU and he was in the dance classes. Apparently he had seen me dancing/performing at the social dances and wanted to ask me out but didn't have a good reason to ask out a total stranger. Well, he got onto one of the teams and then I ended up as the TA for an intermediate dance class he was taking. He made sure to introduce himself a few times which I only remember one of. He decided to plan this awesome date and wanted to ask me out but chickened out and then after being turned down by 2 or 3 other girls finally ask me. And that is when he really entered the picture for me.
How long have you been married? Since August 7, 2004 almost 4 years! Wow!
How long did you date? We went on our first date at the end of February and got engaged January 24 2004 so almost a year.
How old is he? 29 and a bit
How old are you? 27
Who eats more sweets? Definitely me since Arnold has been really good lately. I need to work on that.
Who is taller? He is since he's 6ft 4in and I'm only 5ft 6in but he likes it when I'm in heels so it closes the gap a bit usually.
Who is the better singer? We both enjoy singing but I really couldn't say who's better since neither of us are professional or anything. Just sing for fun.
Who is smarter? Definitely Arnold. He's got the brains. I lost mine a long time ago. One of these days I'll find them, but they are probably still in Texas.
Who does the laundry? Depends on when you ask. I've been sick or recovering from some kind or strange thing and he's quite the angel and helps out a bunch. Otherwise I try to keep it done so he can worry about other things like spending time with me. ;)
Who does the dishes? When he's not home I do but otherwise we enjoy doing them together.
Who pays the bills? Depends on the bill and who is busier at the time. Overall we try to do it together.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? It changes all the time but right now I think I'm on the right side since it's closer to the door and therefore Sam's room.
Who mows the lawn? Arnold does. I haven't been healthy enough to even think about it and he likes the break from the normal everyday work schedule (mostly being outdoors and in the sun instead of an office.)
Who cooks dinner? Well, right now my mother in law(that's a whole other story on it's own) but it will probably be me when they inlaws leave and both of us on weekends.
Who drives? Arnold if he's around. The only time I can fall asleep in a car is at the steering wheel and for some reason that bothers him.
Besides you, who is his best friend? Hmmm...either Sam Clark, Jon Williams, Taylor Profita or all of the above. I don't think he could really say.
Who asked who out first? Arnold asked me and luckily I had no excuses to turn him down so I said yes. I made him wait 2 days for the answer since I was trying to find a way out of it but had absolutely nothing going on and I'm so glad since it was (at that point) the best date I ever went on. He swept me off my feet from the first date.
Who kissed who first? He kissed me and then had to wait patiently for 3-4 months till I'd let him do it again.
What was your first date? It was a big group date where we split into two teams. The guys had prepared for the other side and we went running around campus looking for picture clues to the next location till we found the final destination(an amazing dinner) and some games.
Who proposed? Arnold did on January 24, 2004 up in the mountains. Brrr...
Who has more siblings? I have one more than he does.
Who wears the pants? Well, neither of us like dresses or skirts very much so both of us do except on sundays and I have to wear a skirt to church...bummer.
Who is more stubborn? Me, no doubt about it.
What is your favorite thing about him? That's hard. I think I could make a list a mile long of all the things I love about Arnold. However, I think the one thing that finally made me realize that I wanted to marry him is that I know he loves me and wants to be with me forever. He shows it every day in all the little things he does for me. He's constantly patient and willing to put up with all my little quirks and weird things I do. He takes care of me when I'm sick and works his hardest to provide for our little, growing family. He is truly one of the most amazing people I have ever met and I'm so happy that he is my husband. I have no idea what made him single me out but I'm so glad I couldn't find a reason to turn him down like the 3 girls he ask before me because it was the start to my happily forever after.

I tag: Julia Cooper, cause I really want to see how she answers these questions! :)

Our little climber

As I said earlier, Sam likes to climb now. It's his new favorite adventure because it gives him access to all sorts of new things. Last Sunday he decided he wanted some of what mommy was eating and we finally got a picture of his favorite way to see what mommy is up to. He does this all the time if I'm sitting at the table doing something.
Ok, so here are some videos for your enjoyment. My favorite is the second one so if you only have time to watch one that is the one I'd watch.

This first video is an attempt to catch him climbing on the stuff around the piano so he can get to the keys better, or try to smash his fingers with the lid. However, I got caught and he decided to come get the camera and climb on the boxes behind the couch. Isn't it funny how they never do what you want them too on video.

This next video is of the two chairs he likes to climb between. He'll climb up on the rocking chair all the time but this is the first time he attempted to get on the other one too. Apparently he thought it was pretty funny.

In the cupboards

So Sam has discovered the fact that door and drawers open and that there is usually something fun on top of tables if he can reach it. I have to admit I was hoping it would take a lot longer for him to discover all this out but unfortunately it hasn't. For the last few weeks he's been pulling everything he can out of everything he can get his little hands in. On this particular day he climbed in the pantry 4-5 times in a row and each time would look at me as if to say, "I didn't do it" or "Who me?" So now the house is being baby proofed to a new level and will probably continue to happen since he's now getting tall enough to reach more and more and he's also learning to climb and is getting pretty good at it now.
